Turkeys originally were natives, not of Turkey or any country belonging to the Turks, but of North America; they were introduced into Europe in the sixteenth century by one of Sebastian Oabot’s lieutenants. Statistics show that of children born of parents at the age of forty-one onethird die during the first year; while the rate of mortality among those born of parents between tho ages of twentyono and thirty is less than 8 per cent.
