CONFERENCE BUSINESS DECISIONS AS TO PREACHERS AND PROBATIONERS. Tho deliberations of the Alethodist Conference were continued in Wesley Church, Taranaki street, on Saturday mornings The vice-president, the Hon. C. M. Luke, AI.L.C., was in the chair. ADDRESS TO THE GOVERNOR. On the motion of the Rev. J. A. Luxford, tho conference adopted the following form of address to his Excellency tho Governor, and ordered that it be transmitted to him: “To his Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur De Brito Saville, Earl of Liverpool. “May it please your Excellency. “Tho members of tho conference ot tho Alethodist Church of New Zealand assembled in Wellington desiro to ap proach your Excellency with assurances of devotion and loyalty and to tender to your Excellency congratulations on your .appointment as representative of hia Majesty in this Dominion. Permit us to assure your Excellency that our welcome is cordial and unreserved, “To tho Throne and person of his Alost Gracious Majesty King George wo cherish a profound and loving loyalty, and wo pray that in the providence of God our beloved King may enjoy a long, prosperous and happy reign. “Wo pray that tho blessing of God may rest upon your Excellency and tho. Countess of Liverpool during your residence in New Zealand, that your Excellency may be privileged to see the people of this Dominion advance in spiritual, moral and material power, and that your Excellency may always have happy memories of your association as his Majesty’s representative with this oversea Dominion. “On behalf of the Conference, “Wo have tho honour to be, “■Your Excellency’s humble servants, “S. Lawry (president), “0. M. Luke (vice-president), “C. H. Laws (secretary).” ADAIITTED AS MINISTERS. Tho examination committee, whose report was presented by the Rev. H. Bellhouse, recommended, and it was agreed, that John D. McArthur, Edward Bandy, Harry Cottom and Joseph B. Suckling bo .admitted as ministers into full connection with the conference. PROBATIONERS PASSED. Probationers were passed in their respective years as follow: Albert F. Burcholl, William A. Burley, ALA., Charles H. Olds, James Richards, Archer O. Harris, Harold A'. Sharp, Alexander Allen, >Valter J- Enticott, Arthur Hopper, William Lea, Leslie B. Neale, Horace L. Richards, James Oharteris, Fred. Frost, Clyde L. Carr, Matthew J. Evans, Robert B. Gosnell, Henry H. Marshall, John E, Parsons, Arthur H. Scrivin, William Walker, William A. Watson, Samuel J. Werren. Preachers received on probation were George B. Hinton and Arthur A. Bensley. RECEIVED FOR TRAINING. The following candidates were received for theological training: Percy Battey (Richmond), Stanley Cross (Palmerston South), Harold T. Peat (New Plymouth), Ernest E. Sage,' (Ashburton), George B. Sheridan (Christchurch). Messrs Battey and Peat were received for immediate employment and Air Sheridan was received for training with a recommendation that he be admitted to the institution as soon as opportunity offers. NATIVE PREACHERS. George Kirkwood, Davis Wilcox and Edward “Te Puhi were passed in their respective years as native preachers on probation, THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE. Tho Rev. G. Bond presented the report of the committee dealing with theological training, in which it was recommended that the college committee be directed to make arrangements for three additional students and that the following be recommended for admission: R. R. Gordon, S. J. Moggridge, E. T. Olds, W. G. Slade and James Oharteris, the additional cost of SIBO to be met as follows: £6O from .ho contingent fund, £l2O from tho Primitive Alethodist student fund. If they could not find accommodation in the .building they proposed to purchase and erect a tent for tho accommodation of the three extra students. Tho report was arfopted. At midday tho conference adjourned until this morning. CONFERENCE PICNIC. Saturday afternoon was spent by the delegates, with their hosts and hostesses, in a harbour excursion to Day’s Bay. CAMP MEETING. A camp meeting was held in the Basin Reserve yesterday afternoon. The conference vice-president, tho Hon. C. AI. Luke, was the leader and the other speakers were tho Revs. W. Slade and J. Cocker. SUNDAY SERVICE. Yesterday morning the Rev. C. E. Ward, of Christchurch, preaching at Sydney street, took as his text Matthew chapter iii.. 11: “He shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.” Mr Ward said that Alethodisro meant the mightiest evangelical revival the world had ever known. Methodist union in Now Zealand, with its liberal and adaptable policy, was the last progressive and aggressive move of this great religiouc body. What the now church needed was a baptism of the Holy Ghost and firo. This was the secret of the more than wonderful success of_ tho founders of both churches. The fulfilment of promise was tho subject of tho sermon.
