SWIMMING

BRIDGE TO BRIDGE RACE AT WANGANUI. A bridge to bridge swim, distance about two miles and a half, was held in the Wanganui river on Saturday afternoon. The weather was fine and the tide on the ebb, but a fair jobble was on. and the competitors had to face a fairly stiff wind. There was a large entry, and the river banks were lined with spectators and launches and other boats were on the river. The race resulted as follow: B. O'Neill (Wellington), Bmin, 1; Bone (Wanganui), 3; L. Aunand (Canterbury), 3. O’Neill’s time was 34min 34sec, Bone’s 36min 30 sec, and Annand’s 33min 45sec. The fastest time was put up by M. E. Champion (Auckland) from scratch, 31 min loseo. C. H. Rich (Canterbury), Lmin SOsec, finished in eighth position, and gained second fastest time, 31min 88sec.
