The ancient Hebrews seem to have been ■ ignorant of the domestic cat. It is not once mentioned in the Bible. Banking was carried on under many difficulties, tint the unrest which had been prevalent for some years could not be prolonged indefinitely, and. when it ceased. expanding trade and greater facilities for carrying on the business would .result in increased profits.
