The American four-masted schooner Kona left Puget Sound on January 10th for Auckland with a million feet of Oregon pine for the Kauri Timber Company. The Maoriland Company s steamer Holmdalo is to leave Oamaru to-day for Greymouth to load timber for Lyttelton. She will subsequently go back to Greymouth. , The Melbourne Steamship Company’s steamer Perth, now discharging Newcastle coal at Wellington, is expected to leave here on Tuesday for Kaipara and Melbourne. Captain Hugh McLean, at one time master of tho Mapourika and other Union Company steamers, passed through Wellington yesterday on his way to London for a twelve months’ holiday. overhaul, is to leave Wellington this morning for Greymonth. Tho Union Company’s Maheno sailed from Sydney at 1 p.m. on Wednesday for Auckland direct. She has aboard for this port 129 saloon and 142 steerage passengers. She is duo at Auckland at about noon to-morrow. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Hurunui is to leave Wellington at 1 p.m. to-day for Loudon via Monte Video and Ton or i fro. Tho auxiliary scow Echo arrived at Foxton yesterday from Havelock. After discharge she will return to Havelock to load for Gisborne. The coastal steamer Defender, which is beached in port at Karamea, is still awaiting repairs. Her rudder post has been carried away, and she is otherwise affected by her recent grounding. DUCHESS MAKES EXCURSION. The Wellington Harbour Ferries Company have decided to send the Duchess to Picton to run an excursion from that port to Ship Cove in connection with the unveiling of the Cook Memorial. 1 he Duchess will leave Wellington at midnight on Monday for Picton. and will sail from the latter port on the return trip at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. THE VANCOUVER LINE. Cable advice from Vancouver announces the arrival of the Union Company’s mail steamer Makura from Syduey and Auckland, via Suva, Honolulu, and Victoria, at 11 p.m. on Tuesday. She left Auckland on January 17th. in consequence of the delay in the departure of the Union Company s liner Marama from Vancouver on tho southward run her departure from Auckland for Sydney has been postponed till Saturday next, at 5 p.m. EASTER RUNNING. Tho Huddart-Parker Company announce the following alterations in the movements of their vessels during .Easter week; The Victoria will leave Wellington on the day after Good Friday on her southern trip, and will arrive at Dunedin on Easter Monday, instead of Sunday as usual, and is fixed to sail on the following day for Sydney, via East Coast ports. Tho Ulimaroa will reach Dunedin on March 18th, her usual date, and sail the same day, instead of the day following, for Sydney, via Cook Strait. NAVUA LEFT FIJI. The Union Company’s steamer Navna left Suva at 4 p.m- on Thursday for Auckland and Wellington, with a cargo of fruit. Sho is duo here about next Thursday. MABEBE ARRIVES HOME. On Thursday week (January 39th) the Tyser liner Marere arrived at Ixmdon from AVellington, after a passage of 4U days. Sho left here on December 21st.
