Tho evidence showed that the promoters’ profits amounted to £7OOO in four months. One professional foot/ bailer won £IOOO. BETS FOB FOUR MONTHS r-* £19,476. A few years ago pitmen and the police found six. telephones connected wilfi the betting, and ten thousand coupon! were found to ba arriving daily. There were 154 agents in England and Scotland, one of whom earned' £123 commission in four months. A number of tho agents were pro* uninent in the football world, including the captain of a League team. , Bets for four months aggregated £19,476, whereof £1782 was paid td. the agents, and £7229 represented pro* fits.
