LAWN TENNIS

NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. The subscription due by each association for the year 1913-1913 has been fixed at 2d per capita of members of all clubs affiliated to the respective associations. The committee has decided in deference to a request by the Canterbury Association that the quarterly reports and cash statements issued prior to council meetings be supplied to associations desiring them in sufficient quantities for circulation amongst affiliated clubs. Books by the following writers are being procured as the nucleus of a library of tennis literature:—A. Wallis Myers, A. .Wilding, Renshaw, Doherty, Vaille, "Austral." The books will be loaned to secretaries of associations on conditions to be framed, and it is hoped will be found to be of interest and instruction to those desiring to read them. In connection with the New Zealand and Australasian championship meetings at Hastings last December, the receipts amounted approximately to £453 10s 6d, and the expenditure to .£193 Ha 9d, leaving a credit balance of £259 15s 9d. The, sum of .£l5O has been placed on deposit at the savings bank, making a total deposit of ,£233 Ss lid to the credit of the association. Under the conditions entered into with the Hawke's Bay Association the sum of £BO (approximately) is payable out of the meeting to the Hastings Club, and under the conditions of Iris appointment the secretary of the association was granted a bonus of £2O for each meeting for services in managing them. Tiro statements of account have not come to hand from Auckland and Christchurch as to the matches held there, but it is hoped that they will he received in time to be considered at the meeting of tbs council. The Wellington match resulted in an approximate not profit of £36. A tennis match between Taita and Lyall Bay was played on Mr Welch's courts, Taita, during the week, and resulted in a win for Lyall Bay by 9 sets to 2. Mr H. A.‘ W. McKenzie, patron, of the Taita Club, welcomed the visitors, Mr Hamer replying. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies. To-day the Taita Club are to play against Seatonn, at Taita.
