CANADIAN DEBATE

"PACIFIC THE REAL PLACE FOR BATTLESHIPS." ULTRA-IMPERIALISTS AM) JINGOES. By Telegraph—Presa Association—Copyright (Received February 5, 9.25 p.m.) OTTAWA, February 5. In the Dominion House of Commons, Mr Thompson, the member for Qu'appelle, continued the naval debate. He declared that he was disinclined to .believe that the Empire was in any way endangered by Germany's aggression. Germany and Japan had been flirting lately. Therefore, the real place for battleships was in the Pacific. He ridiculed the idea that the placing of a fleet in the Pacific was likely to load to separation. If the Empire was destroyed such a state of affairs would be due to the ultra-Imper-ialists and Jingoes. The tighter one drew the bands of Empire tho more Jikely thoy were to break.
