HIGHER EDUCATION

INCREASED CHARGES EST AUSTRALIA. (Received February 5, 9.25 p.m.) MELBOURNE, February 5. The charges for higher education will be increased shortly, 12J per cent, in the case of tuition atone, and 5 per cent, in the case of boarders. The Church of England Grammar School, Scotch Wesley College, and Geelong have taken the initiative. Ladies’ colleges, except the Methodist, are also increasing the charges. It is explained that the reason is in order to allow teachers better remuneration.
