OTAHUHU LYSOL-DRINKER
CHARGE OP ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 5. Charles John Henry Mahon, who in tho early hours of Saturday morning was found in his house at Otahuhu suffering from lysol poisoning, was discharged from the hospital this morning, and appeared before the Police Court to-day to answer a charge of attempted suicide. Senior-Sergeant McKinnon asked for a remand for a week, stating it was than intended to ask for a remand to Otahuhu, for tho case to he heard there on Friday week. When Mr Singer (for accused) asked for hail, the sergeant recalled that the circumstances pointed to accused having got out of bed in the small hours of the morning and seriously assaulted his wife ■ prior to taking lysol. The magistrate remarked that the accused obviously was not of normal balance on the occasion ‘of the alleged offence, and the question was whether it would be discreet to admit him to bail new. Accused would be remanded till Friday, pending a report from a medical officer.
