From Our Own .Correspondent. February 5. Mr T. Parsons, of Etetahuna, ha* been appointed by the Palmerston North. Chamber of Commerce as one of the business experts to give evidence on butter and cheese before the Imperial Trade Commission. Mr Parsons is chairman of directors of the New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union. Mr Cecil Kebbeil, of Xe Hoe, Alfredton, together with his family, will leave in April next for England. Mr Kebbell Intends to remain at Home for two or three years in order to give his children the benefit of a public school education there. At Eketahuna on Tuesday morning Mr Eugene Breen, of Napier, was married to Miss Mary A. Standford Davies, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Davies, at Aifredton. Miss Nellie Davies was bri/iesmaid. and tMx P. Timmins, of Onga Onga, Hawke’s Bay. best man. The ceremony was performed by the Bex. Bean McKenna, of Masterton. Mr W. H. P. Hodgkins, manager of the Masterton branch of y»e Bank of New South Wales, has received notice of his transfer to Tamworth, Now South Wales. Ho will be succeeded by Mr E P. Mountfort, of Oamam. Georgs E. 6. Sergeant, a farmer residing at Pongaroa, was charged at the Masterton S.M. Court yesterday with having failed to make provision for his illegitimate child. Accused was remanded till February 11th, bail being granted, in £SO. A lire occurred yesterday afternoon in an upstairs room at the residence of Mr Anketell, on the Upper Plain. The fire brigade were communicated with, and Foreman Jenkins proceeded to the scene of the outbreak, but on his arrival the dames had been got under control. The damage done amounted to about £SO. A Maori chief named Toi Tamati died at Te Ore Ore yesterday, at the age of ninety-four years. A big tangi is being held. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board this afternoon Mr H. F. Green, accountant in the Borough Council office, was appointed secretary and treasurer ta the board. There were seventy-six applicants for the position, and the final ballot was between Mr Green and a Dunedin applicant.
