At the Agra murder .trial, Budhu, charged with complicity in the crime, but who received a free pardon in order that he might testify against the other accused, in his evidence stated that four days before the murder Lieutenant Clark requested him to accelerate the murder of Mrs Clark. Budhu asked for payment of the blood-money first. Budhu and Sukhia, who were to commit the crime, went to Fulham’s bunfalow on the evening of tho murder to iscuss their plans. Lieutenant Clark showed them six sovereigns and ten rupees as blood-money. Bambal, Sukhia, Mohan, Bughukanhar, and witness then went to Mrs Clark’s with, a large knife, which Mohan kissed, worshipped, and sharpened. After Lieutenant Clark arrived he removed a dog which was barking, and then cycled away. Budhu pointed out Clark’s wife to his confederates, and held a lantern while Mohan stabbed her. The murderers ran away when Mrs Clark’s daughter screamed.
