Inspecting the proposed visit of Australian infcer-State teams, the Now Zealand Cricket Association wrote, stating that at the last quarterly general meeting a resolution was carried to the effect that the Wellington Association be informed that a somewhat similar scheme to that suggested in their' letter of February 28th was under consideration by the council, and it was hoped that within 'six weeks' time a definite announcement might be made as to the result of the present negotiations. The committee resolved to send a communication to the Weraroa Training Barm stating that, if possible, a match with Wellington representatives would be arranged at the end of the season. senioiTfiSituees. At last evening’s meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association the subject of a match with Canterbury cropped up for discussion. Mr al. J. Crombie mentioned that he had been speaking with Mr Reese,, the Canterbury representative, last week, and the latter indicated that the opinion in Canterbury was that Wellington had not treated the southern association properly in the way of arranging a match. It hud been suggested that there was .a prospect of a breach taking place between the Wellington and Canterbury Associations. Canterbury seemed to think that U ellingtou was so intent on getting the shield that it went to Auckland first. The chairman (Mr ii. F. Luckie) stated mat Wellington had never been advised of any proposed programme involving Wellington’s visiting canterbury and Otago this year. Wellington did not know exactly what Canterbury IhougUt Wellington should have done. Mr Midlane said Canterbury’s complaint was purely imaginary. They were simply taking exception because Wellington did not pay them a visit at the New Year. The chairman explained that it had never been said that Wellington would uot go down to Chirstchurch this year. The reason why U ellingtou decided to play Auckland at the New Year was because it had beeu advertised for some considerable time that Canterbury was to play the South Melbourne team at that period. Wellington did not thinh there would be any chance of arranging a. match. It was resolved to telegraph to Canterbury to-day asking them to reply to suggestions respecting a match, contained -u a letter sent by the Wellington Association recently, and the chairman and Air C. G. Wilson were appointed a subcommittee to deal with the matter.
