THE POSITION OF ADMIRAL. MELBOURNE, February 3. Efforts are being made to induce Vice-Admiral Sir Percy Scott to accept the position of Admiral of the Australian Navy. Negotiations are not yet completed. COCKATOO ISLAND DOCKYARD. (Received February 3, 9.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, February 3. The Commonwealth pays New South Wales £873,000 for the dockyard at Cockatoo Island. Vice-Admiral Sir Percy Scott is at present Inspector of Target-practice In tho Navy. He is the inventor of the nlghtsignalling apparatus, the new fire director, which has revolutionised naval gunnery, and the improved gun-carriage, which mad© possible the use of the Bin and 4.7 in guns during the South African war. 1
