The four-masted schooner Alumna, has been chartered to load timber at Gray's Harbour for Valparaiso or New Zealand. It is reported that tho Federal Steam Navigation Company has sold the Cornwall to foreigners. The borquentine Sanorita, so well known in tho Australian-New Zealand trade, is reported to have been Sold to Captain Dennison, Into of the battiuentiiio Handa Isle, Udder charter to the Tyser Company the steamer Conrtfiold is to load at New York for Australian anil New Zealand ports. She is to sail on the 30th instant. The Government steamer Hinomoa ifl due back at Wellington next Thursday evening from the Sounds, where she is overhauling buoys. The vessel is to sail next Tuesday evening on her periodical round trip to the northern lighthouses. The Koromiko arrived at Newcastle at 7 aun. on Saturday. She is to leave there about the end of the week for Wellington. Ttio Atahura arrived at Greymouth at 9.30 a.m. yesterday from Wellington via ports, and sailed on the return trip at 6 o'clock last evening. She is due here 10-morxow night. The Union Company’s steamer Kaiapol is to leave Greymouth to-morrow for Sydney. The Haupiri, which is due at Wellington to-morrow from Onehtmga and New Plymouth, will leave on the return trip to-morrow evening. She will Call at Picton and Nelson on her way northward. Dalgoty and Co. anticipate that the repair work to the coastal steamer Mangapapa will bo completed in time for the vessel to sail next Tuesday for Westport and Karamea. The Marine Department received word yesterday from Captain Post, of tho cable-laying steamer Tutanokai, reporting that he had moored a third cable buoy north 77 degrees west 12j miles from Stephen Island. As it is right in the tract of shipping masters of vessels ate warned to keep clear of it. ' Tho Kamona, which arrived at Greymouth at 6.50 a.m. on Sunday, is to sail to-morrow for Lyttelton. The Westport Coal Company’s collier Canopus is due back at Wellington about next Sunday from Westport via Gisborne. Hatricb and Co. advise that the coastal steamer Tainui is to leave Waitara on Thursday night for Wellington on a special trip. The Comma, duo this morning from Onehunga and New Plymouth, loaded 23,000 boxes of butter at Onehunga for transhipment to the Tnrakina. At 5 p.m. to-day the Shaw, Savill and Albion finer Delphic, is to leave Wellington for Blufi in continuation of Uor Homeward loading. Bannatyne and Co. advise ■ that the Tyser liner Star of India is to leave Wellington at noon to-morrow for London via Los Palmas. The Kurow will take about 1400 tons of produce from Timam this week for Auckland* from which port she is to go to Newcastle to load for Wellington. Mr W. Leers has been appointed mate of tho Awaroa in place of Mr W. Taylor, who' has come ashore. Mr J. Hoyes has signed on the . articles of the Queen of the South as engineer in succession to Mr C. Pearson. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Corinthic, now at Lyttelton, is due at Wellington from that port next Friday week to complete her Homeward loading. Tho Maoriland Company’s steamer Holmdale cleared the Greymouth bar on Sunday morning bound for Pamaru. Mr J. A. Hnghan has joined the Flora as second officer, Mr G. Dalgleish as third officer in place of Mr T. Bowling, and Mr H. Park has joined as purser. Levin and Company s steamer Awahon, which has been bar-bound at Foxton for tho past four days, was still there last evening. Tho Union Company’s steamer Aparima. now loading wheat at Williamstown, Melbourne, is to sail towards the end of this week for Europe via Durban. It is reported that the vessel is chartered at the high rate of 43 shillings per ton. The Kapiti is due back at Wellington to-morrow from Wanganui with a load of cheese. The vessel will sail to-morrow evening for Puponga to load for New Plymouth. KBMUEKA, FROM LONDON. About a quarter to 6 o’clock last evening tho New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Bemuora dropped anchor in the stream from London, via ports. The vessel was passed by tho Port Health Officer, and she berthed at 7.15 p.m. at No. 1, south (outer tee) Queen's wharf. The Bemucra left London on December 19th and Plymouth on December 21st. Light variable winds with smooth seas were experienced to Teneriffe, where tho vessel arrived at 2 a.m. on December 26th. After bunkering 600 tons of coal the vessel continued her voyage. Very fine weather was experienced during the run through tho tropics. Tho
Equator was crossed on New Year’s Day. Light south-easterly trades will; smooth seas prevailed till arrival at Capetown at noon on January 9th. To. facilitate bunkering the vessel berthed alongside the wharf, and the passengers enjoyed a run ashore. About 1300 tons of coal was loaded, and tho vessel sailed again at 8 o’clock on thg following morning. Fine weather was the rule running down the '■asting till within two days of Hobart, when a moderate northerly gale_ with rough seas delayed the vessel’s arrival till Wednesday morning instead of Tuesday evening. After discharging 800 tons of cargo and disembarking 4.5 passengers for Australian ports the lust stagy of the voyage was commenced at nrxm last Thursday. Pino weather with light westerly winds and smooth seas lasted till arrival. Christmas Day being on tho fourth day after leaving Plymouth, it Was decided to postpone tho Christmas tree provided by the Company until tho New Year, when all the children on board, numbering 120, were entertained on the saloon deck. An enjoyable fancy dress ball was held on the fourth day before arrival at Hobart by the saloon passengers, and an equally successful dance was riven on tho following evening by tho thirdclass passengers. The Retonera has 5200 tone of cargo to discharge at Wellington, and sho is expected to hail next Saturday for Lyttelton with the remainder. KENT FOE LONDON. Tho Kent, which arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from Gisborne, berthed at the King’s wharf to complete Homeward loading. Sho is to sail on Thursday for London, via Monto Video and Teneriffe. ZEALANDIC LEFT MONTE VIDEO. Last Friday evening the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Zealaudic loft Monte Video in continuation of her voyage to London from Wellington. She left here rat January 11th. THE HURUNUI FOE LONDON. The New 'Zealand Shipping Company’s Uner Hurunui is due at Wellington tomorrow from Napier to complete her Homeward loading. She is to sail on Saturday for London. THE WESTMEATH. The Now Zealand and African Steamship Company advise that the Westmeath (from Liverpool) will leave Auckland this afternoon for Wellington, and is due here on Thursday evening. WARRIMOO FROM SYDNEY. The local office of the Union Company received advice that the Warrimoo left Sydney at' noon on Saturday for Wellington direct. She is bringing 98 saloon and 97 steerage passengers for New Zealand. i The vessel is due here to-morrow morning. THE AMOKUBA.
