The Wairau was waiting at Wanganui yesterday for the Patea bar to improve. Tho Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer ivuijiara is to leave Auckland to-morrow morning for London, via Rio do Janeiro and Teneriffe. The Alexander, due at Wellington tomorrow from Nelson, is to sail on, Saturday for Westport and Gfeyluoutb. , Captain J. W. H. Holmes is now master of the Flora in jdace of Captain Williams, who is ou holiday. Captain Jamieson, of the coastal steamer Defender, which is at Karamea awaiting repairs, has returned to Wellington. Captain Charles Angus, Surveyor of Ships for the Marine Department, will resume duty this morning after a holiday. Sir W. Houghton joined the Kim as second engineer yesterday in place of Mr E. Scott.
Mr O. Jacobsen signed on yesterday as mate of the Kapiti. Mr E. Larsen joined the Huia as mate yesterday in place of Mr VV. LeersTho coastal steamer John is duo back at Wellington about next Wednesday from southern ports, on her way to Wanganui.
The Mamari arrived from Lyttelton yesterday morning and berthed at the King's wharf. She is to sail on Sunday morning for London. The Putiki is due at Wellington tomorrow with a load of wool from Wanganui.
Bamiatyne and Co. advise that the coastal steamer Eakiura left Greymouth on Wednesday night for Lyttelton. Bhe will probably arrive at Wellington about next Monday or Tuesday on her way back to Groyxnouth. The Kaituna is due at Wellington on Monday or Tuesday from Fdithburg. via Hobart.
The Amokura left Wellington harbour yesterday morning for a cruise in Cook Strait. She will return to port next week for provisions prior to attending the unveiling of the Cook Memorial m Ship Cove on February XOtb and 11th. Duo at Wellington on Sunday from Nelson, the Waimea is to leave here on Monday for Westport and Greymouth direct.
This morning the Kahu will probably return to Wellington from East Coast with wool. Sho is to sai 1 ito-day for Picton to load chaff for East Coast. The Holmdale arrived at Greymouth on Wednesday night from Picton. She is to sail to-night for Gisborne. Mr L. MoMnrrich joined the Moeraki as second engineer yesterday iii place of Mr M, A. Scott. Hatrick and Co. advise that the coastal steamer Tainui is to get away from Wellington at 10 a.m. to-day for VVaitara.
Ihe Sydney “Sun” reports that Messrs Archibald, Currie and Co. have disposed of their fleet to the British India Steam Navigation Company. Tlxo liamoaa, eu route for Greymouth, passed the Wellington Heads at 11.30 o’clock last night. After a stormy trip, accomplished in less than days, the Union Company's steamer Taviuni returned to Lyttelton from the Chatham Islands on Tuesday afternoon. After landing 3800 sheep and taking in bunker supplies, the steamer sailed on Tuesday evening on her return to the Chatham Islands to loud sheep for limaru. This next trip will complete the _ Chatham Islands funning of the Pavipni this season, and she wiH rotnrn to the New Zealand coastal trade. Tup Kini is to leave Wellington tills morning for Greymouth to load for ‘Wellington.
The Kent is due at Wellington on Monday morning from Gisborne, and. will sail on Tuesday for London. The Greymouth dredge Mawhera was placed ou the Wellington patent slip yesterday for overhaul.
The Komata is to leave Wellington tomorrow for Westport to load for Wellington.
The Flora is due at Wellington on Sunday from Dunedin via ports, and is to sail on Monday for New Plymouth and West Coast.

Tlie- Melbourne Steamship Company's cargo steamer Perth sailed from Newcastle yesterday with a full cargo of coal for Wellington. The coal is for J. A. Red path and Sons. THE STAB OF INDIA. The Tyser liner Star of India is row expected at Wellington to-morrow morning from Wanganui roadstead, and will berth at the Glasgow wharf to comptets loading. She is timed to sail from here on Tuesday at daybreak for London. THE ARAHURA FIRES. The Marino Department has decided that no further inquiry will be held concerning the outbreaks of fire on Hie Arahura recently at Wellington. The matter is in the hands of the police. THE HINEMOA. 'The Government steamer Hinemoa returned to Wellington yesterday with an injured able seaman named To Whaitiri, whose right hand wad caught in a cogwheel of a winch of the crane at the Brothers lighthouse. The vessel had finished landing at Stephen Island. Farewell Spit and tho Brothers. The weather was too had to work at tho Jackson Head beacon. The vessel will probably sail this morning for the Cape Paliiser lighthouse, and will go to the Jackson Head beacon if tbo weather is favourable. MAUNGANUX FOB SYDNEY. An early expected arrival at Wellington this morning is the Union Company’s liner Mannganui, from Melbourne and Hobart via southern ports. She will berth at No. 1 north (outer tee). Queen’s Wharf, and is to sail at 5 p.m. to-day direct for Sydney. TAHITI FOB ’FRISCO. Yesterday morning, at 4 o’clock, the Union Company’s steamer 'Tahiti arrived at Wellington from Sydney, on her way to San Francisco via xiorte. The vessel berthed at the Glasgow wharf, where she (s loading. At 3 p.m. on Saturday the Tahiti left Sydney, and had a strong southerly breeze and heavy beam sea fill arrival. The Tahiti will sail from Wellington at 5 p.m. to-day, and is due at San Francisco. MUBITAI’S LOADING PORTS. In continuation of her Homeward loading operations tho Muritai will leave Bluff to-morrow for Napier, Gisborne, Wanganui roadstead, and Wellington.
