WATERSIDE WORKERS’ PICNIC

The annual picnic of the Wellington Waterside Workers’ Union was held at Day’s Bay yesterday. Nearly 1300 holidaymakers attended the outing, of whom fully 500 were children. The steamers Cobar, Admiral, and Duchess left town during the morning, and an extra trip was made in the afternoon. The day was bleak and overcast, but this did not prevent a very enjoyable time being spent. Sports and games were indulged in, and the Waterside Workers’ Band added to the pleasure of the excursion.
