Ha trick and Co. have received advice that tho gale prevented the coastal steamer Talma from leaving Waitara yesterday for Wellington. The vessel will sail as soon as the weather moderates. Mr J Smith, late of the Mapourika, has joined the Mokoia as purser in placof Sir Farnilton, who has come ashoro at Wellington. The Stormbird, for Wanganui, and th" Ripple, for Napier and Gisborne, wero unable to get away from Wellington yesterday owing to tha holiday being observed on the wharves.
Tiro Tyser liner Star-of India is now not expected at Wellington until Friday from Wanganui roadstead. She is to Rail on Saturday for London. The Westport Coal Company’s steamer Canopus is now expected to sail from Wellington at 5 p.m. on Friday for Westport. Tile Nairnshire, which left Wellington yesterday afternoon for Timaru and Lyttelton, ia to leave the Canterbury port on Saturday fer Avolimouth. The Kahu was unable to load wool at Flat Point yesterday owing to heavy weather, iso she sheltered at Castlepoiht. The vessel is expected back at Wellington to-morrow. ' The Tysor liner Star of England is now duo at Sydney from London direct with a full cargo for the New South Wales port. After discharge this vessel is to come to New Zealand to load. The llinemoa is due back at Wellington on Friday ot Saturday to discharge Hie empty gas cylinders from the Jackson Head beacon. She will then proceed to Pelorns Sound to overhaul the buoys, and will return to Wellington to leave hero about February 7th for northern lighthouses. A Press Association message from Melbourne states that there are 74 thirdelaSs passengers for New Zealand aboard the Orvieto. The Waihora is to leave Wellington this evening for Lyttelton and Dunedin with remainder of cargo from Calcutta. The auxiliary scow Echo is now timed to get away from Wellington on Friday for Havelock to load for Foxlon. From the last mentioned port the vessel ■is to go back to Havelock. The New Plymouth dredge Paritutu is to be _ brought off the Wellington patent slip to-day, and, the Greymouth dredge Mawhcra. will then go on the cradle.
The Manaroa, which received damages to her _ saloon by the fire bn Sunday night, is to complete a conple of trips to the Pounds for wool before repairs will be effected.
The Koniata is to leave Westport at 2 o’clock this morning for Wellington. Tho Koonya is to sail for Qreymohth this afternoon from Wellington. The Karori will leave hero to-morrow for Westport.
The Kent left Auckland on Monday for Tokomam. Napier, Gisborne, and Wellimrton. She is duo here on Sunday, and will sail on next Tuesday for London. Tho Tahiti, which left Sydney at 3 p.m. on Saturday, on route for San Francisco, is bringing 48 saloon and 8 second saloon passengers for Wellington, and IS saloon, 19 second saloon, and 39 thirdclass passengers are for fonkard ports. The vessel is to arrive here abont 6 a.m. to-morrow.
The Haupiri was bar-bound inside Mantikau Heads yesterday.’ and is now not likely to arrive at Wellington before to-morrow morning. She is to sail tomorrow evening for Onehunga, via ports. The Arahnra arrived at Westport at 4 a.m. yesterday from Grevmouth and sailed at noon for Nelson. Picton, and Wellington. She is duo here shortly before 10 "’dock to-night. The Hnion Company’s steamer Manama left Vancouver last Sunday for Auckland, via Victoria. Honolulu, and Suva. She is three and a half days behind time. The vessel has aboard 85 first-class, 60 second-class, and 103 thirdclass passengers, and 300 tons of cargo for Now Zealand. She is dhe at Auckland about February 14th, and at Sydney on February 18th. THE AMOKTTRA. Tho Government training ship Amoknra, now in the stream at Wellington, is to come alongside tho wharf to take in water, and will sail for Cook Strait as soon as the weather will permit. The vessel is to attend the official unveiling of the Cook Memorial in Cook Cove on February 11th. Tire Amokura will subsequently return to Wellington. CLAN OGILVT SAILED. The Scales liner Clan Ogilvy, which left Wellington at 6.40 o’clock yesterday morning for Dunkirk and London, via Suez, will bunker at Fremantle. Tho vessel loaded abont 7025 bales of wool at Wellington, 2200 bales of wool at Napier, 14 bales of wool, and some kauri gum and timber at Auckland. REMTDERA REPORTED. A Press Association message from Hobart reports that the Remuera, en route from London and Capetown, advises by wireless that she is expected to arrive at Hobart at daybreak this morning. The vessel is duo at Wellington about next Monday. FROM THE CHATHAMS. Early yesterday afternoon the Himitangi arrived at Wellington from thChatham Islands via Lyttelton. The vessel met with moderate to strong northerly and north-westerly winds and high seas to and from the Chatliams, until Saturday morning, when a fresh southerly was encountered. Tho Himitangi brought back 300 b\les of wool and cn-es of fish. The vessel is to leave Wellington at 11 o’clock this morning for Greymouth to load for Wanganui. She will not sail for Chatbams lor another fortnight.
