DEMONSTRATIONS IN FAVOUR Ol* ENVER BEY AND SHEVKET RASHA. MEN SHOT DOWN LIKE NINEPINS. By Teleeraph—Press Association—CopyriEhl (Received January 26, 5.5 p.m.) CONSTANTINOPLE, January 26. During tho hostile demonstration against tho Government in connection with their agreeing to tho terms of tho Powers’ Note, Enver Boy headed the demonstrators, forcing his way to the Council Chamber of the Grand Vizicrato. Two aido-de-camps with revolvers tried to stop him, and both were killed. Nazim Pasha came out and called the demonstrators ill-mannered curs. Ho was immediately shot, his death being instantaneous. Nazif Bey, the Grand Vizier’s aide-de-camp, came to the door of the Council Chamber, drew a revolver, and fired at the demonstrators, who fatally injured Nazif Bey. The War Minister’s aide-de-camp then shot and maimed Nedjif, one of the demonstrators, and was himself shot with a revolver. Immediately a secret police sergeant and the Sheikh-ul-Islam’s attendant were also killed. Tho revolutionaries regret Nazim Pasha’s death. His was an open, soldierly character, and he gained even his opponents’ respect. There was a public procession at Nazim’s interment at the Suginanicb mosque. Enver Bey followed the coffin. All military honours were accorded tho deceased, to prove that his death was an accident. Tho officers at Chataldeja and Gallipoli are arranging demonstrations in Enver Boy’s and Shevket Pasha’s honour. The commander at Adrranople sent wireless congratulations, and stated that tho' besieged now await liberation with increased doggedness.
