AFTERNOON SITTING. Press Association. NELSON. January 24. At tho afternoon sitting the following resolutions attached to tno report of the board of theological studios were adopted: (1) That in order to meet the expenditure of the board dioceses be assessed for the next three years at per annum; (.2) that for each of tho next three years tho sum of .£BO bet set aside by the general church trust to provide exhibitions if required for candidates for holy orders who shall pass ill. subject to regulations drafted by the board; (3) that tho following be nominated as members of the board Archdeacons Richards and xi. W. Williams, Keys. H. T. Purchas, .J R- Wdfcmi' A- M. Johnson and F. G. Harvie; (4) that tiie Synod desires to place on record its high appreciation of the services rendered to the church by the Right Rev, F. .Wallis, D.D., particularly in connection with the koard of theological studies, which ha* benefited largely by his enthusiasm and life scholarsips, and further that this Svnod extends to Bishop W allis its heartfelt sympathy - with him in his continued illness, and prays that ho may bo restored to such strength as will enable him to resume his work. A motion expressing satisfaction that Bishop Neligan's health was largely restored was carried. The Wanganui church authorities were empowered to see their prosent sits, and with tho proceeds to purchase another site in the Avenue. , On tho recommendation of tho committee of trusts the General Synod authorised the Dunedin Diocesan Trust Board to exchange with the City Council certain lands pn_whffih-to erect a cathedral; ;
