The amount of Customs du ies r c eived at this port for the week ending November 26, 1879, was as follows
There is no improvement in the Import trade, and matters continue as dull and unsatisf .ctory as could well bo imagined. Quotations are nominally the same, but a large margin would be allowed to effect sales’to any extent. The rise in the price of sugars in the Australian market has had a corresponding effect in this, and I W is now quoted at £4B per ton. , , . . In colonial produce there is no change from last week’s rates, no business doing beyond the mere requirements of tne retail trade. Messrs: J. and T. Meek quote the following :—F our, £l3 10s to £l4 per ton; bran. £3 lss; pollard, £slss; oats, 2s 9d to 3s; maize, 4s Gd; peas. 4s Gd.
