THE WAIRARAPA SHOW.
(per press agency.) Carterton', Wednesday. The Pastoral and Agricultural Show opened at 8 o’clock this morning. The judges went to work at 9, and by 1 o’clock nearly all the awards ware made. Heavy showers were falling at intervals of about half an hour. The attendance, consequently, was not so large as anticipated. The show, as a whole, does not quite reilise expectations. The entries are about fifty fewer than those of last year. The grounds are well adapted for the purpose, extending over about eight acres, allquite level, and there is excellent pen accommodation. The principal prize-takers are as follows :—Cattle : Messrs, Beetham, McMasters, Drummond, Giles, and Bidweli. Sheep—Messrs. Tancrcd, Beetham, McLaren, Buchanan, and Smith. Horses—Messrs. Oookburn, Tancred, Bidweli, Harding, and Sherriu. Pigs—Mr. Elkins. Poultry—Messrs. Elkins and Gray. Dogs— Messrs. Beetham and Tancred. Butter— Messrs. Campbell and Goodin. Bacon—Mr. Campbell. New Zealand made saddlery—Mr. Pi. It. Armstrong. The display of agricultural implements consisted of coupled harrows. Later. The weather is now clearing, and people are flocking in from all directions. The Carterton baud is in attendance.
