THE HOME FOR FRIENDLESS WOMEN.
— TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —I am very sorry to see in your paper this morning that the ladies of the Christian Association have gone to the trouble of taking a house for a home for friendless women. Now, sir, I am one of those friendless women, and hundreds besides me are friendless in New Zealand. Still, I hope and trust that neither myself nor any of my friendless sisters will ever have to go to such a home. No woman in New Zealand that wishes to do what is right has any occasion to go to a home provided by these good ladies ; so please get them to change the name to a home for drunken women, for no other women require a home but them. For God’s sake do not put us on your charity list before we require it. We are willing to work and provide homes for ourselves. —I am, &c. One of the Friendless. Wellington, November 12.
