HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting was held on Tuesday. Present—Councillors Taylor (in the chair), Chew, Lancaster, Smith, Morgan, Speedy, Dick, and Monaghan. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, and accounts were passed for payment amounting to £7S4 12s. 7d. The following resolutions were carried : “ the Engineer (iu connection with Mr. 3 ii■ ,1, the officer appointed by the Governui 'a ’ - olf lines of road) lay off the lines of road through laud sold ou the Mungaroa and Waikanae line of road, to connect the main road with Crown and other lands near road j also, to lay off lines of road through land sold and other lands in the Wakatika Valley, connecting the same with main road,
a? shown by Mr. Gide*, in hi* rcceot sm-vcy." — :g That in the opinion o* this Ccaucil the time has arrived chat aecvmmo i..ti m should he i*;ovi led Ur the Gounty, and that steps be taken to build or lease a place suitable •or the purpose within the County, la the meantime to make arrangements with the Wellington City Council to take the sick uf the County into the Wellington Hospital. That a counaittov —consisting of the Chairman, Councillors Lanca-ter and Taylor—bo app tinted to make the necessary arrangents, and report to next meeting.”—‘‘That George Wilkins be appointed poun.‘.keeper at the Upper Hutt Pound, iu the place of Thomas Wilkins.” The Engineer was instructed to prepare plans and speeuicatious for lire line of road, known as Harwood's, to the Small Farm Settlement at Paliautanui. Notice was given by Councillor Smith of his intention to move at the next ordinary meeting—“ That tenders be calUd for th<erectum of a bridge over the stream near Blackiv’s, in the Horokivri Valley,” The Council then adjourned.
