SUPREME COURT, WANGANUI.

(PER PRESS AGENCY.) Wangandi, Tuesday. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court opened yesterday. There was a heavy calendar, no fewer than twenty-one cases being set down for hearing. No bill was found against William Battchelar for felony ; and the Crown Prosecutor entered a nolle.prosequi in the case of Benjamin Pepper for misdemeanor. Stephen Henry Hudson, charged with larceny, pleaded guilty. John Brett pleaded guilty to the charge of forgery. Edward Price, charged with stealing from a dwelling, was found guilty of receiving. Louisa Grantham, charged with attempted suicide, pleaded guilty, and her husband was ordered to enter into a bond of £IOO for her appearance when called upon for sentence. Henry Asslat, attempted suicide, pleaded guilty, and was ordered to find a surety to appear when called on to receive judgment. Edward Price, horse-stealing, was found guilty. Arthur Cook, a youth of sixteen, larceny in a shop, pleaded guilty, and his father was ordered to enter into a bond for his appearance for sentence. George Thomson, horse-stealing, pleaded guilty. Robert Morton, forgery (two charges), pleaded guilty. John Stephen Hutchins, brought up on two charges of passing a valueless cheque, also pleaded guilty. These were all remanded for sentence.
