A chronometer true on Greenwich lime would show 12h. 30min. when the ball drops. Any difference is error, plus or minus, of the chronometer. In the report of the passage of the Aloxa, which appeared in yesterday's issue, the bearings of the group of islands discovered by C-ptain Rohb were inaccurately given, The following Is the paragraph referred to:—“I calculate the position of the group to be In 165-53 8., and 857 N." It should be 8’37 N., and 105-53 East. The Union Company’s steamer Waitakl left for Picton and Nelson at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She return* to port on Wednesday morning, sailing for Manukau and intermediate ports at 4 p.m. same d *The barque Alexa was berthed at the wharf yesterday. She has entered at the Customs, and will commence discharging this morning. The Union Company’s steamer Wanaka sailed for Auckland and East Coast ports yesterday afternoon. The steamer Oretl got away for Wanganui, Taranaki, Waltara, and Manukau. shortly after 4 o'clock yesterday evening. The steamer Jane Douglas should arrive from Foxton to-day. She is advertised to leave for Waltara direct at 6 p.m. to-morrow. The Union Company’s steamer Arawata, with the outward Suez mail, sails for Melbourne via Southern ports at 3 o’clock this afternoon. The steamer Southern Cross left for Lyttelton yesterday afternoon. She returns to port on Thursday, sailing the same day for Auckland via Bast Coast ports. The Union Company’s steamer Wellington fa duo this morning from Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. She leaves for Picton and Nelson on Thursday. Tho steamers Manawatu for Wanganui, Kiwi for East Coast, and Lyttelton for Blenheim, got away yesterday evening. The steamer Sfcormbird leaves for Foxton at 7 o’clock this evening. The steamer Wallace should arrive this morning from Nelson. She returns to Nelson and West Coast ports at C o'clock in the evening. Tho steamer Napier loaves for Blenheim this evening. The steamer Hula was taken on the slip yesterday to ascertain’what damage she had sustained through striking on the rocks in Tory Channel on her recent trip to Picton. The ship St. Leonards was launched off the Patent i?u>Ptii v ic oafl?ng for rl Lon3!on immediately. Tho steamer Manawatu with 39 of the Zealandla’s immigrants, loft for Wanganui yesterday afternoon. Tho ship Zcalandla will haul alongside the wharf this morning. She will be entered at the Customs, and probably break bulk to-day, Tho barque lone was towed into tho stream by tho steamer Moa yesterday morning. Tho Union Company's steamer Rotomahana has msdo a remarkably smart passage from Russell to Sydney, a distance of 3172 miles, in 82 hours, or an average speed of slightly over fourteen knots per hour. The barque Amelia Ross will have discharged tho Wellington portion of her cargo in a few days. She may be expected to get away for Auckland early next week. Tho brig Neptune sailed for Newcastle yesterday. The following vessels were in port last night:— Steamers—Samson, Rangatira, Hinemoa, Arawata, Stormbird, ami Grafton.
