THE DUNEDIN UNEMPLOYED.
(P£E PRESS AGENCY.) Dd.vsdik, Sunday. A deputation, representing the unemployed, waited upon his Worship the Mayor on Saturday, at the Council Chambers. They were introduced by Mr. Bell, who stated in opening, that at a meeting on the previous day, at which 309 persons were present, the deputation now in attendance had been appointed to wait upon his Worship. They represented the unemployed of Dunedin. Unfortunately there was a large number of people, skilled artisans and laborers of all classes, who were quite out of work, a very large proportion of whom were married men with families, Prom the remarks they made they appeared to be in some distress, and willing and anxious for work. They did not ask for alms, or for charitv, bat wanted to work ; were not afraid of it. ' Tiisy had waited upon bis Worship as the chief citizen of Dunedin to know if he could suggest any means whereby the unemployed could get employment. The Mayor promised to try and start some works in connection with the Corporation. The men hold a meeting at the Princess Theatre to-morrow.
