THE THORNDON ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir,— Will you kindly insert these few lines ? I am given to understand that in the election for Thorndon Ward many persons voted against me on account of my connection with the Liberal Association and the interference of that association with the ward elec, tion. It seems not to be generally known that my friends in the association wished that body to stand aloof from the contest altogether, the general feeling being that it would be better to leave the Thorndon candidates to fight the matter out themselves. A friend of Dr. Newman insisted that the question should bo put to the vote, Dr. Newman being himself a member of the association, ■ and the result, a« you knew; was in ray favor. • I think it ri s iit that this simple fact should be plainly understood.—l am, &c,, Gio. Fisher.
