Stocks, already heavy, have been increased by the arrival of the Halcione from London, and the Ned White from New York, and it will be some time before prices improve in the face of further cargoes on the way, and the present monet try depression which just now hang* over the trading community. In colonial produce there is little change. Keg butter Is in better enquiry fo* local consumption, and prime samples are worth 12d. per lb ; inferior samples being sold at any figure from 4d. upwards. Cheese is worth from 7d. to 74d. per lb for Canterbury make, but is in little dem iml. Hams and bacon of th • new season’s cure are lightly stoked at Bd. to 9d, for Southern cure. Flour has shown an upward tendency, and is now held for £ll 10s. to £l2 per top, for best brands of Canterbury and Oamaru mills, in bakers' lots. Oats are in full supply, and prices have gone down ; sales at 2s. 7d. to 2s. 9d. per bushel having been effected. Fowl wheat in moderate s pply at 3s 6cl. Maize, little enquiry at 4s. 3d., stocks light. Potatoes have come in freely, and are quoted at 90s. to 100 s. per ton, for trad? lots. Green fruit, fairly slocked ; oranges, 10s. ; lemons, 14s. to 165.; and apples, 13s. to 14s. per case. BY IKLBGRAVh. AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr. G. W.
