PRESENTATION TO DR. JOHNSTON.

The occasion of Dr. Johnston’s retirement on July 31st from the position of surgeon-superin-tendent of the Wellington Hospital was taken as a fitting opportunity for the presentation to that gentleman of a mark of esteem by the other officers of the institution. Dr. Johnston will next month have completed his twentieth year as an officer of the Hospital, and while he now retires from active duty, he does not actually cease his connection with the institution, the position of honorary consulting surgeon being now allotted to him. The presentation was mads by his Worship the Mayor, who was accompanied by Mr. Graham, Town Clerk. A complimentary addresswas read to the doctor, after which the presentation of a handsome mantelpiece clock was made. The time-piece bore the following inscription : “ Presented to A. Johnston, Esq., M.D., by G. Gore Gillon, R. W. Magill, Miss Sutherland, and the officers of the Wellington Hospital. Wellington, July 31, 1879.” Dr. Johnston feelingly replied to the presentation.
