PUBLIC MEETING AT NORMANBY.
(FBOlt ODE CWN CORRESPONDENT.) Nobmanbv, July 24.
Another crowded public meeting was held here last night, and strong re-o'.utions were passed denouncing the Grey Government generally, and its native policy iu particular, and praying the House to remove them from office, &c. The resolutions were wired to Major Atkinson. A more hopeful feeling prevails to-day. The railway is commenced, large numbers tf men ire employed, more are wanting, and buildings are again being erected. The weather is spring-like ; “ the time of the singing of the birds has come," and the land (whose richness astonishes the new arrivals) is again being cultivated. The Maoris are again friendly. Large numbers are in the township, and from appearances are not without funds. Their captured bullocks and ploughs were removed from Waihi yesterday.
