THEATRE ROYAL.
There was a capital attendance at the Theatre Rival last evening, on the occasion of the re-appearance of Mr. and'Mrs. George Darrell in this city. The pit and stalls were crowded, while there was a verv good attendance in the dress-circle, considering the strong counter attractions. “ Transported for Life” had a very successful career in Wellington about two years ago, so that it is unnecessary to enter into a description of the plot. The piece was well mounted in every respect, and the scenic artist, Mr. Hunt, having well deserved the applause which some of his efforts elicited. With the exception of Mr. and Mrs Darrell and Mr. Sweeny, the representatives were new in Wellington in their particular parts. The play was a great success throughout, everything going like clock work. The applause during the evening was quite enthusiastic, and there was a special call for the principals at the end of every act. As Mr. Darrell’s season wid be a short one here, “ Transported for Life” will only be performed for about three nights, so that those playgoers who have not yet seen it should embrace an early opportunity of doing so. It will be repeated this evening.
