She reports the Stormbird as being aground in the river above the bridge, and the Rangatira as having arrived via the Mannkau. Experienced fine weather along the coast. The Tui leaves for Wanganui at3p.ru. to-day. The Rotorua from Sydney via the South is due here early this morning. The Hula should arrive from Foxton tins morning. She will sail for the same port during the afternoon. The Union Company's steamer Wellington arrived in harbor yesterda' from Picton and Nelson, with the ship Pleione in tow ; discharged passengers and cargo, and proceeded to the Heads to tow the Paeroa n, arriving in harbor at 3.15 p.m. She loaves for Picton and Nelson at 2 p.m. to-day. The Union Company’s steamer Tararua left Sydney at 1 p.m. on the 6th instant: experienced fine weather on the passage across: passed the Three Kings at 3 p.m. on the oth. arriving at Russell on the 10th at daylight: left at G p.m. same day, arriving at Auckland at 7 a.m. on 11th; sailed at 4.30 p.m. on 13th, and arrived at Tauranga at 7 a.m. on 14th; left at 11 a.m., and arrivecrat Gisborne at 11 a.m. on the 15th ; left again at 5 p.m. same dav, and arrived at Napier at 7 a.m. on the IGth; sailed at noon same day, and arrived in Wellington at 10.10 yesterday morning, having experienced light w’nds and fine weather along the coast. The Malay hauled alongside the w' arf directly after arrival, and will coraraenee dlschargin g to-day. She comes consigned to Messr-. Dransfleld and Co. ARBIWL OF THE SHIP PAREORA FROM LONDON* The N.Z.S. Co.’s ship Pareora, Captain Power, arrived in harbor yesterday afternoon, being towed in from the Heads by the steamer Wellington. Tho Pareora has made a rather long passage, which must be accounted for by tho fact that she never had a eood breeze of wind which lasted more than two days, cbietlv light winds and calms being encountered throughout. She ; s a smart looking vessel of 879 tons, and is a stranger to this port, Her passengers all appeared to be in good health, and express the greatest satisfa -tlon at the kindness of Captain Power and his officers during the very tedious passage. The Pareora left London on the sth April, landed the pilot at the Start on the Bth,' picked up the trades in latitude 23deg. V. Jongtude 24deg 33mtn. W., light from N. and N.E.: lost them in latitude sdeg. N, and lonsrtitude 22deg. 40min. 3sec. W.; had then light wind and calm until picking up the south-east trades, in hat. 28deg. S. and long. 23deg. 3min. W.; had the variable N.E. and’N.W. winds till arriving off Tasmania, whore she encountered f esh S. to s.W. wind?, accompanied with thunder and lightning. Sighted Cape Farewell on'the 13th July: hud light southe ly winds and calms till the 16th, who-* she worked through the Heads on Wednesday night against a stiff north-west wind. Passed Rock on the Tristian d'Achuna on the 28th May. Tho Pareora spoke the following ships: Minister of Marine, bound to Auckland. which left the Downs on tho 30th May ; City of Athens arid Star of Germany, for Calcutta ; the Pleione on the 18th April, and kept her company for about 5 days. The Pareora will haul alongside the wharf to-day, and commence discharging on Monday. ARRIVAL OF THE SHIP PLEIONE FROM LONDON. The dipper ship Pleione. Captain Reliant, which we repo-ted on Thursday at anchor at the Heads, was towed into harbor by the steamer Wellington yesterday morning. She brought up off the powder-ground, ns she has some 12 tons of cartridges and ammunition on board for the Government. Tho Pleione is not a stranger in Wellington harbor, having been here last yearunder her present captain. Her passage has been an uneventful one. chiefly light'airs and calmshaving been met with. The Pleione comes into port in splendid order. The passengers speak very highly of the kind treatment receiv d during tho long passage from Captain Renaut and his officers. . The Pleione got under way from the Downs on April 1, landed the pilot off Start Point on the 7th: had light winds and calms untP clearing tho channel on the 10th ; from thence to picking up tho north-east trades on 21st light variable winds and fine we 'trier; lost the northcast tradewind in 7deg. north latitude and longtitude 2Gdeg. west, on the 2Sth; from that date until May 8 had light airs and calms : crossed tho Equator at a later date in longtitude 2Sd»g. west: May 10, in latitude 3deg. south, got into south-east trades, which proved very light and unsteady, twice falling calm, in latitude IQiieg. south and 16deg. south ; lost them in latitude 25deg. south and longtitude 82deg. west, on May 20: crossed tho meredian of Greenwich on Juno 2, in latitude 41deg. south: the Cape on June 7, in 42deg south latitude: from th«nce to the longitude of 61deg. east constant light south to south-east winds and fine weather; at this time were driven into latitude 30deg. south, June 19: from latter date to July 1, in latitude 42deg south longtitude llldeg, east, fresh southerly gales and very unsettled weather; passed Tasmania on July 9 without sighting it. The whole voyage across the Southern Ocean tho winds were souther 1 )- and south-easterly. 12 hours only of westerly winds for over 36 days Had south to southeast winds with heavy sea from Tasmania till making tho New Zealand coast, when it foil light from tho same quarter; sighted Capo Farewell on tho 14th; passed two barques standing to tho wcs'ward. apparently in ballast: made Stephen’s Island the 15th July, arriving at the Heads on tho 16th, where she anchored for the night. She will not come alongside tho wharf till Saturday. *
