The launch shipping some heavy seas, ana the •wind increasing in strength, those on board decided to return agrin to port, and arrived here, at 6.3') last night We understand that the object of the launch in going to AVanganui was to be transhipped to the brigantine Hannah Broomfield, bound forHokianga, where she has recently been purchased, to be used in conveying cargo and passe’ gers about that harbor The Vesta is a small steam launch. 35ft. long, ana registering about 6 tons She was built in this port' by Mr. W. MoKegan. engineer, and has recently been on Messrs. Coffey and Dixon's Slip, where she hasbeen caulked and co -perod, and her engines and boiler had a thorough overhaul. She can steam over eight knots an hour, and Is a very pretty little model. The New Zealand Shinping Company’s chartered bar >ue Loch Ken sailed for London at 2 p.m. yesterday with a fresh breeze from the north-west. She would bo well clear of the Strait by dark. The schooners Julius Vogel, forAVaitara, and the Laurel, for Piston, sailed yesterday morning. The steamer Southern Cross arrived in harbor at 5 a.m. yesterday. She left Napier at 2 p.m. on Monday ; had strong southerly wind, with heavy sea. Passed the Alert, schooner, off the Kidnappers, the Kiwi off Black Head, and Ladybird at Plat Point Sbe sailed for Lyttelton yesterday forenoon. The steamer Manawatu left Wanganui at 7 p.m. on the 14th, and arrived here at 7.30 a.m. yesterday. Had fine weather throughout the passage. She leaves for the same port at noon to-day. The Jane Douglas sailed for Kaikoura and Lyttelton at 6 p.m. yesterday. - - ' The steamer Huia sailed for Fasten last evening. The steamers Tui and Stormbird are both due here this morning from Wanganui. The Sampson was towed round to the Patent Slip yesterday by the Moa for the purpose of cleaning and .'painting. The Napier arrived in harbor at 9 o'clock last night. Had strong north-west wind across the Strait. She leaves for the same port to-day. The steamer Kiwi, from the East Coast, should arrive here early this morning* The steamer Wellington, from Picton and Nelson, Is due here this morning. She sails for the same ports to-morrow afternoon.
