(REUTER'S TELEGRAMS.) THE PRINCE IMPERIAL OF FRANCE KILLED. London, June IS. The wool sales were continued to-day, and prices were firmly maintained ; 291,900 bales have been sold since the opening. June 19. At a Conservative meeting last night Sir Stafford Northcote made a statement to the effect that he anticipated the Zulu campaign would be brought to a successful conclusion before the prorogation of Parliament in August. London, June 20. Capetown news to the 3rd of June state that the Prince Imperial of France is dead. He was with a reconnoitring party on the Ist June, when it was surprised, and before it was able to withdraw, the Prince Imperial was killed.
The British troops croseed Buffalo River, and reached Kopulbeae. They continued their advance on the 2nd June.
The British Government have joined the French Government in demanding the abdication of the Khedive of Egypt.
The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £20,625,000. Best Australian beef tallow, 31s. 6d. per cwt. ; best Australian mutton tallow, 335.
per cwt. The wool auctions closed to-day. The total quantity sold was 280,000 bales. The number of bales held over was 30,000. The bidding was animated. Colonial wool a halfpenny to a penny advance. The stocks of tallow are large; mutton, 335.; beef, 31s. per cwt. The leather market Is quiet; no speculative demand ; best sides, 9Jd.
