THE LATE FIRE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sin, —I would suggest to the officers ef the Naval Brigade that in future both officers and men wear their uniform caps.when they again attend a fire. It was only by working as an organised detachment, and the, smart and active way the men followed the orders of the two lieutenauts'in charge that the men could be distinguished on the night of .the late fire. I would further observe that a rope and ladder detachment might easily'be formed by the Naval Brigade, which could, be of much service, especially from amongst men who seem to obey their officers’ orders as if they were genuine sailors. It was evident to those who know the amount of stock saved andlassistauce rendered by the Naval men as a body the other night, that with the necessary appliances our hardy firemen would find in them an equally plucky body of men.-—I am, &c., ; . A Sufferer.
