"HONOR TO WHOM HONOR IS DUE.”

TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —In your article of this morning’s issue on the late fire you have fallen into a slight error in ascribing such an amount of merit to the efforts of the Naval Brigade in saving Te Aro House from the flames. The work was mainly accomplished by tho employees themselves, who worked with a will, aided by three or four strangers equally energetic in their efforts. Only one Brigade man ascended the roof, the rest were conspicuous by their absence from the post of danger; and as to the conduct of some of the members perhaps the less said the better. By inserting this in your next issue you will oblige—Yours,

&c., Anti Humbug. June 16, 1879. ' [“ One of the Employees ” also writes in a similar strain.—Ed. N.Z.T.]
