INQUIRY INTO WRKCKS.

An inquiry in.o tho wreck of the schooner Colleen Bftwn was hold before Mr. McKellar, Collector of Customs, yoUerclay. Andrew Lillybard, master of tho vessel, deposed as follows: I crossed tho bar at Wanganui on April 17 last at 8 a.m. in ballast, bound to Otalcl. On tho 20th I let go the anchor off Okaki River. I went ashore and placed beacons on either side of tho channel. On Monday morning I was towed in by a boat with four mon. Wo gob in all right. On Wednesday wo were loaded nml made a start to go out, Mr. Jenkins, act-ing-pilot, being on board. Wo got as far as the entrance of tho river, when the wind shifted more to tho southward. Wo tried to get back again, but in doing so struck tho bank. Wo tried to heave her off at high water, biib tlio anchors came home. She was ultimately taken over by tho Insurance companies. She was drawing sft. of water. I sounded the bar and found t Oft. 6ln. on lb. Tho vessel is very little damaged, can bo launched without much difficulty.
