J The steamers Manawatu and Tui arrived at the wharf almost together yesterday morning. They both' made a good passage of a little under 12 hours. She left Port Chalmers at 2 p.m. on the 19th, arriving at Lyttelton at 1.30 p.m.; sailed again for Wellington at 7 p.m., arriving here as above. She experienced thick wuatii T to Lyttelton, thence to arrival head winds. Wc thank Mr. Hartnett, purser, for report and files. The Wanaka left again last night for Auckland via tho East Coast. The steamer Jane Douglas arrived In harbor at 7 p.m. yesterday. She left Wanganui for Rangitikei at 0.15 p.m. on the 17th, and arrived at 7 a.m.,on the ISth ; left again at 8.30 a.m. on the-20th, and arrived ns above. She experienced fine weather throughout. Tho buoy which was picked up by the Star .of the South last week turns out to bo one of the buoys belonging to the Collingwood Harbor. Captain Cross, tho harbor-master of Nelson, recognised it tho moment ho saw it. Mr. D. Berg has on tho-stocks in his boatshod a boat intended to ply on the Wairarapa Lake. She has, according to experienced judges, splendid lines, and should answer admirably for what she is intended. She will bo completed in about a fortnight. Tho barque Australind, for Newcastle, and schooner Old Jack, for Port Underwood, cleared at the Customs yesterday. They both sail to-day. The barque Edwin Bassett, from Newcastle, with another cargo of coals consigned to Captain Williams, was signalled as being at the Heads yesterday morning.
