The flying survey of the trans-continental railway from Brisbane to Port Darwin has been successfully completed. The proposed line ia of easy construction, and much good land has been discovered.
London, April 23. The New Zealand fives are one per cept. higher. The Hon, George Harker is dangerously ill from a stroke of paralysis. The Colonial Bank’s dividend for the year of eight per cent, has been declared in London. (SPECIAL TO PRESS AGENCY.} Melbourne, Thursday. The Underwriters’ Association, under date London, April 220 d, report the arrivals of the Antares, from Lyttelton ; the Wairoa, from Wellington ; and the Waitara, from the Bluff.
