Brigantino3--Ethol, Anthons. The Wellington leaves to day for Picton and Nelson. The brig Neptune sailed yesterday for Newcastle. The brig Niagara mis nearly finished discharging her flour. She goes from hero to Newcastle, where J o will load coal for Adelaide. The steamer Napier left last night for Blenheim. The Patca, for Patea, left yesterday evening. The steamer Stormbird left yesterday afternoon for The barque Beatrice sails to-day for Oamaru to load grain for Loudon. The Bangatira, from Manukau, New Plymouth, and Wanganui, arrived in harbor at noon yesterday. She left the latter port late on Wednesday night. She returns to the same, port again to-day. The steamer Go-Ahead Is at present trading between Waitara and tbo Manukau with cattle. She is expected hero shortly, when she will resume her usual trade on the East Coast. Cai tain Jones, of the schooner Queen, reports that a largo number of squared logs'are out at sea between Capo Marla van Diemen and Whangaroa. They are right in the track rf vessels, and outwardbound ships should keep a good look-out.—New Zealand Herald. Mr. Baird, so long and favorably known as the chief engineer of the Union Company's s.s. Rotorua, having accepted a responsible position under tbo Dunedin Harbor Board, the vacancy has been filled by the appointment of Mr. McQueen, late of the s.s. Taupo. The owners of the Loch Doon, Messrs. D. and J. Sproat, have made a claim of £ 3500 for salvage for services rendered to the Plako. By the advice of Mr. Butt, Q G., £7OO has been offered and refused, and an action In the Admiralty Court lias been begun, and will bo defended by the owners of the Plako.
