Public Notices IEDER OF HUTT COUNTY 1 : COUNCIL. • KNOW ALL ME by these presents that at a Special Meeting of the Hutt County Council, held on Tuesday, the 11th day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, the said Council did pass a resolution as follows (that is to say);— ■; 1. “ That no animal shall be slaughtered within-the County for purposes of | ordinary trade, except at some slaughter-house licensed in that behalf under the seal of the County Council ; and in the construction of this By-law the word ‘animal’ shall mean and include all animals of the classes usually slaughtered for human consumption. 1 2. “Every person desiring to obtain a license for a slaughter-house shall apply for the same in writing, addressed to the Clerk of the County Council, and in ! such application shall state the locality and construction thereof, and what | arrangements exist for ensuring clean* : ' lihess therein. ' 3. “ The Council may grant to any person' applying for the same a license for any such slaughter-house, in such . form as the Council shall, think fit, ’ and every such license, at whatever ; period of the year the same may he issued, shall terminate on the ■ first ; day of May next, succeeding the issue thereof. j 4. “In respect of any license issued under ; this By-law, there shall be paid by the licensee a foe of one pound on the , issue of such license, and on the first day of August, the first day of November, the first day of February, and the first day of May in each year, a further sum of threepence per head for every head of large cattle, and one half-penny per head for every head of small cattle, in respect of all animals slaughtered therein up to that date ; i and for the purposes of this clause the term ‘ large cattle ’ shall mean oxen, cows, and calves, and the term ‘small cattle’ shall mean sheep, lambs, goats* and pigs. ’ 5. “On the thirty-first day of July, the thirty-first day of October, the thirtyj first day of January, and the thirtieth | day of; April in each year, every licensee under this By-law shall dei liver'to the Clerk to the Council a I true return of all animals slaughtered i in the slaughter-house mentioned in such license, and every person making’ j any wilful false return shall be guilty ! of an offence. 6. “ The Council may annex to any license i issued under this By-law any oondii tion which it may deem reasonable for ensuring cleanliness and the preven--1 tion of any nuisance arising from the use, of the slaughter-house, and any licensee contravening 'or permitting any contravention of this By-law shall be guilty of an offence. 7. “Every slaughter-house licensed under this By-law shall be open at all reasonable times to inspection by any officer authorised in that behalf by the Council, and any person obstructing any such officer in the exercise of his , duty shall be guilty of an offence. 8i “ Any'person guilty of an offence against '■ this By-law. shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds.” 1
And .that the said resolution was confirmed at ;, a' special meeting of the Council duly convened, and held- for that purpose' on this fifteenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine.
