TO THE EDITOR OF THE HEW ZEALAND TIMES. Slit, —At a time when the smells of this city are being celebrated in prose and verse it may not be amiss to direct attention to a peculiarly powerful one. This afternoon, when passing along Custom House-quay just opposite the boat sheds, the writer confesses to having sighed for a whiff of Adelaide-road breezes. Some citizen with a dog too many had disposed of him by drowning. The remains are now stranded under Messrs. Ledger and Hickson’s windows.—l am, &c., Fresh Air.
