RIFLE MATCH.
The City Eifle Cadets yesterday morning concluded a match for the company prizes with the following result. The ranges were 100, 200, and 300 yards, five shots at each range :—Corporal Gooder, 49, album; Private Staples, 39, opera glass; Private Tokens, 3S, writing desk; Private McL-.ughlin, 36, book; Private Crabtee, 32, book; Private Beck, 31, pocket-book; Sergeant Bigg, 30, silver pencil. The gold and silver star given by Mr. J. King to the City Rifles will bo fired for at the Polhill Gully range on Saturday next. The match begins at 2 p.m. The challenge star is to be fired for quarterly, and to be won three times by the same competitor before it becomes his absolute property. The ranges will be 400, 500, and 600 yards, five shots at each range. The highest scorer in any one match will hold the star until the next contest.
