At a meeting of Bulgarians held at Phillippopolis, measures were adopted to place every difficulty in the way of the Roumelian Commission; in fact, to render the execution of the Berlin Treaty impossible. A Russian officer who was present was prime mover in the matter. London, February 8. The strike of the engineers has commenced. Two thousand men have turned out from eighteen different London firms. February 10. The Admiralty reported that the Thunderer 1 s gun missed fire, and that the explosion was caused by reloading the gun and firing off both charges. Melbourne, Wednesday. The Hobarton Cup was won easily by Lord Harry. McDonald and Co., of Geelong, failed for £BI,OOO. Their assets are £67,000. The bush fires have interrupted the Adelaide line. The Somersetshire has arrived. Dr. Crooke, in his evidence to-day, attributed his illness to an overdose of chloral. There was a tornado at Camperdown yesterday, which caused great damage, Sydney, Wednesday. The Assembly last night declared the seat of Mr. Coombes, the member for Orange, vacant, owing to his acceptance of an office profit under the Crown. The office referred to was that of the Executive Commissionership for New South Wales at the Paris Exhibition. Troops have been despatched from Wagga Wagga after the Kelly gang. The telegraph wires have been cut at Urana, where it is believed the Kellys have gone. (SPECIAL TO PRESS AGENCYJ Sydney, Wednesday. The Kelly raid at Jerilderie was executed with great judgment. No disguise was attempted. It is generally stated in the township that the police ignorantly introduced them to several persons in town. There is no further news about them, Hobarton, Wednesday. Eight horses started for the Cup race, Lord Harry winning easily ; Tom Kirk was second, and Swiveller third. Melbourne, Wednesday.
