A new arrival, apparently an undertaker, who rejoices in the name of Bill Mould, and who appears pleased with the immediate prospect of a crop ,of “long uns and short uns ’’ in his Hue of business, has sent us the following “/pome" on the sanitary condition of the quarter in which he has set up his tabernacle : ADELAIDE ROAD. To a prospect inviting These lines I’m inditing— Adelaide-road. Finest of atmosphere Known in this hemisphere— Adelaide-road. Slime-reeking soil, Corporation won’t spoil— Adelaido-road. Fine open drains Tile landscape enchains— Adelaide-road. Stinking fat burning, The stomach upturning— Adelaide-road. Fine brick-kiln vapours Cutting their capers— Adelaide-road. Sickness and diarrlusa-r. Make 'em all feel so queer— Adelaide-road. Damp floors soon make ’em cough, Dysentery kills ’em off— Adelaide-road. Bliss unalleyed, Good, strong typhoid— Adelaide-road. i What do the people care, Hone of them grumble there— Adelaide-road. Quietly standing by While the poor children die—l Adelaide-road. Prospect entrancing, With joy we are dancing— Adelaide-road.
