The steamer Hula, built for tho Wanganui and Wellington trade, made a successful trial trip to-day. She leaves for Wehington on Tuesday.
PORT CHALMERS, Saturday. Arrived: Barqnentine C- L. Bushnell, fr»m New York, 124 days out. Part of her cargo is for Lyttelton, and 900 tona for Dunedin.—'VVaUabi, steamer, from Lyttelton.
The steamer Arawata, from Nelson, arrived at the wharf last evening at 7 o’clock. She left Nelson at 11.20 a.m., cleared the French Pass at 2.55 p.m., and arrived here as above. She brings 5 tons of cargo for ■Wellington, and leaves here for the South to-morrow. The schooner Cynthia, from Pelorus Sound with a cargo of timber, arrived in harbor on Saturday. The schooner Star of the South, for Havelock, got away yesterday. The Manawatu, from Wanganui, arrived at the wharf at 1 p.m. on Saturday, after a 12 hours'passage. She returns to-day.
The Go-Ahead, from Wanganui, arrived In harbor at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. She left shortly before trjdnight on Saturday, and experienced fine weatbet 'along the coast. -
As Pilot Simms was removing the May From the wharf yesterday he fouled the ships St. Leonards and Rakaia. The schooner had the end of her main gaff carried away and two of her sails torn. No other damage was done.
The steamer Jane Douglas left late on Saturday night for Fexton, The Kiwi, from the East Coast stations with wool arrived early on Saturday morning. She returned to the same porta during the evening. The Stella, for Jackson Bay, sailed shortly after midday on Saturday.
The steamer Wellington, from the Manukau arrived shortly after daylight on Saturday. She left Onehunga on Wednesday, and arrived at New Plymouth at 6: a.m. on Thursday; sailed again at 12 30 and arrived at Nelson at 7 a.m. on Friday; left there again at II.SO a.m., and arrived at Plcton at IDp.ra.; left there at midnight, and arrived here as above. Fine weather was experienced throughout the whole trip. She leaves to-day for Plcton and Nelson. The Stormbird left Wanganui at 1 a.m. yeslerdav morning with the schooner Minnehaha in tow bound to Kaipara. The Stormbird arrived here at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
The steamer Southern Cross, from Auckland via Napier, arrived in harbor late last night. The steamer Napier left Blenheim at 9 o’clock yestcrday morning and arrived here at 4 p.m. . She again to-night The ketch Thames and schooner Roseof Eden both arrived from Pelorus Sound with timber yesterday afternoon.
The steamer Hawea, from the South, arrived in harbor at 2 p.m. yesterday. She left Port Chalmers at 5 p.m, on Friday, and arrived at Lyttelton the next morning; left again the same night, and arrived here as above. She leaves for the North to-day.
ARRIVAL OF THE HERMIONE FROM LONDON WITH TYPHOID FBVEPv ON BOARD.
The sli p Hermlone, with 250 immigrants, from London, was signalled from the flagstaff yesterday. The Hawea, which arrived from the South yesterday, brought the unwelcome news that she had sickness on board, and shortly alter arrival proceeded outside to tow tho ship in. From tho health oflicer, whowent out in the Hawca, we learn that typhoid broke out amongst the passengers on the 16th November. Two deaths have occurred during the voyage. There are eight cases still on board, and two doubtful ones. The names of thpse who died were not known. The Hawca picked up the ship about three miles outside the Heads, and towed her to the Quarantine Island, where in all probability tho majority of the passengers will be landed, to-day. The Hermlone is a large iron ship of-1158 tons, and comes consigned to Mr. Pearce. A number of her passengers are for Taranaki.
