WANDEBBE3 V. STABS. On Saturday, at Petoui, the Wanderers for the first time met the Stars, and succeeded in gaining a signal victory over that hitherto victorious club. It is true that neither side mustered their strongest, the Wanderers playing with only nine men ; but nevertheless the match may be taken as a fair test. The bo wling of the Stars was lamentably weak, and their fielding certainly not up to par, with one or two exceptions, Blacklock figuring conspicuously in this line, as also Gray. For the Wanderers Maplesden played a sterling innings for his 10, as also Crowther for his 11. A. W. Leokie with some tall hitting put together 21 in the second innings, Hickson following in his footsteps with 22, and Hall with a nicely played 9. Speed as usual long-stopped well.
