CHURCH OF ENGLAND DIOCESE OF WELLINGTON.
A meeting of the Standing Committee of tho Wellington Diocese was held last evening. Present: His Lordship the Bishop, Venerable Archdeacon Stock, Rev. B. W. Harvey, Rev. R. Coffey, Messrs. C. P. Powiea, G. Didsbury, H. T. Clarke, Edward Lowe, 0. Eoua-Marten, and Colonel Leckie. PALMERSTON RECTORY AND GLEBE, A proposal was made from the churchwardens at Palmerston to purchase land for a rectory and glebe. It was found that there was already land in the township available for the above purposes. GRANT FROM THE PENSION FUND. A grant from the pension fund of £2OO, for one year, was made to a clergyman temporarily disabled by sickness. THE THEOLOGICAL STUDENT. Tho theological student, Mr. Blackburn, from this diocese, it was arranged, will bo sent to Bishopdaio, Nelson, in February next, to reside for three years. THE GENERAL CHOROH FUND. It was resolved to pay tho expenses of a deputation to bo sent to different parts of the diocese to explain the needs for a general Church fund for tho diocese. LIFE ASSURANCE. Archdeacon Stock and Mr. Lowe were appointed a sub-committee to consider a proposal made to insure the lives of the clergy, and to pay the premiums from tho pension fund. ST. MARKS. The Rev. R. Coffey thanked the committee for their grant to the new Sunday-school building at Sc, Marks,
the “chuucii chronicle.” The secretary was directed to write to the different districts of the diocese, asking what number of the Church Chronicle" they would take in each month. , The meeting then ndionrnpd.
