TARANAKI RACES.
(PER PRESS AGENCY.) New Plymouth, Friday. ; The Taranaki races were continued to-day. There was a large attendance, and the weather was extremely fine. HANDICAP STEEPLECHASE. Awahou .. .. ..1 Grey Momus .. 2 War Eagle 8 Little-thought-of, Bully-for-you, Matangi, and Billy also ran. War Eagle was most fancied. Grey Momus led, followed by Bully-for-you. War Eagle overpowered his jockey and rushed to the front, getting over tho first furze jump ia advance. The first time past the stand the order was—Awahou, Momus, War Eagle, and the others close up. No alteration took place, the winner holding tho pride of place until the finish. AUTDITN HANDICAP, Distance, one mile and three-quarters. Isaak Walton .. .. .. .. .. I Otawa ,2 Folly S Isaak Walton beat Otawa in a canter by four lengths, Folly a good third. Time, Smin 23sec. HARBOR STAKES. Once round and a distance. Speculation 1 Jocasta .. ..2 Chanticleer 3 Marion, Sunshine, and Gatcbem also ran. Won by a couple of lengths. Time, Imlu. 65seo. THE RAILWAY PLATE. Distance, one mile and a half. Isaac Walton 1 Redeemer .. 2 Walton, the favorite, had the race .in hand from the start, and won hard held by a length. Time, 2min, 58Jsec, CONSOLATION STAKES. One mile. Otawa .. .. .. .. ..I Catchem.. .. .. .. .. .. 2 Venus Transit .. .. 3 The two favorites made the running for three-quarters of a mile, when Venus Transit was dono with, and to the surprise of everyone Catchem made up, and catching Otawa on the post, made it a dead heat. In running off Otawa won by two lengths. This has been the moat successful meeting ever held in Taranaki. :
